Compared to last week’s colorful outfits, this week’s casual outfits are very neutral. I feel like I relied more on print and accessories this week to make each outfit a little more interesting. It was nice to revisit some of my accessories that I’ve been neglecting.
As with pretty much every other week, I didn’t really wear these outfits anywhere. I ran a couple of errands…Target drive up, the post office and the donut shop. I basically just dress up for myself (and you 😀) at this point. And a capsule wardrobe has definitely been helpful! It’s been motivating me to get dressed each day and I find that getting dressed improves my mood. I’ll take whatever positive vibes I can find right now.
The weather was all over the place this week…it started off really warm and sunny, then switched to rainy and then to cold and cloudy. Typical spring weather.

Monday
This dress is the last item of clothing that I bought before deciding to quit shopping for a while. It’s cotton, has pockets and it’s extremely comfortable. It was great when the weather was colder because of it’s length but it worked out well when it was a lot warmer outside too.
One of the things that I’ve focused on over the past few years is transitioning my wardrobe towards clothing made from natural fabrics. I tend to stick to cotton, linen, silk and wool, with a little tencel thrown in. These are all breathable fabrics so when it’s warm outside, my skin can still breathe, which means I’m a lot more comfortable.
Clothing made from natural fabrics tend to be more expensive, so secondhand shopping makes them much more accessible.
I really love the details of this dress. I think they allow the dress to stand out all on it’s own. I prefer to wear it fully buttoned and belted with the matching belt.
It also looks good unbelted and left open at the neck. I can picture wearing it with a fun belt and chunky boots too. It’s a versatile piece that can be worn a myriad of ways which is something I look for in all of my clothes.
I added a pair of chunky sandals and my printed grey bag.

Tuesday
It was another hot day and I turned towards one of my go-to outfits…a bodysuit and track pants. As far as casual outfits goes, this might be the ultimate one!
I actually bought this bodysuit at the beginning of my ethical fashion journey from a brand that I thought was ethical but later found out wasn’t as good as I was led to believe. So I don’t buy from there anymore.
The pants are also fast fashion, but I found them secondhand about 5 years ago, even before I got on the slow fashion bandwagon. They’ve been a workhorse in my wardrobe.
I added a few of my old necklaces because I think the neckline of the top can look bland without something to draw the eye.
My black leather backpack and these strappy sandals are ones that I normally gravitate towards whenever I wear this combo.

Wednesday
This was the day that I worked on the “How to Style Converse High Tops with 5 Outfits” post. If you’ve already read that post, you know that this was one of the outfits. I liked the outfit so much that I just kept it on for the rest of the day.
I was gifted this jumpsuit last year and it’s become a staple. It’s perfectly baggy, made from a breathable linen/tencel blend and it has pockets that are deep enough to hold my things.
I added my vintage bolo tie to serve as a focal point. I find that you lose a lot of the details on black clothing so it’s nice to have something that stands out.
It’s also nice to add a fun piece to casual outfits to dress them up a little. I think the bolo tie gives off the perfect vibe…like I tried but I’m not taking it too seriously.

Thursday
The temperature had really dropped this day but I wasn’t in the mood for pants. I did end up wearing a pair of cropped sports leggings under this dress though. It was the perfect outfit to go and get donuts for lunch!
This was the first tiered dress that I ever bought and it set off my obsession with loose, flowy dresses. It’s a fast fashion piece that I found on eBay last spring. It’s made from lightweight cotton and I love the billowy sleeves.
One of the ways that I was able to stop buying from fast fashion brands was to start shopping secondhand. Read about a few other things that helped me quit buying from fast fashion in this post.
I decided to wear these old Nike trainers and I really love the combo. I never wear trainers with dresses. But I’ve been seeing a lot of it lately and I like the look of it. Since I’m not buying any new or used clothing right now, I looked around at what I already owned. These are sleek enough that they even feel a little dressy for trainers and I think they’re the perfect compliment to my more casual outfits.

Friday
I took advantage of another cool day to wear my quilted coat that I recently made. I decided to wear it with the cream side out…I love that it’s reversible. The printed side is much more yellow and I didn’t like it with the dress as much.
This dress is the first item of clothing that I ever made. It’s the Wilder Gown from Friday Pattern Company. It’s been almost a year since I started sewing and I’m so happy that I finally decided to start.
Since the main items in the outfit were neutral and monochrome, I decided to add a little fun with the accessories. I tied my hair back with a printed scarf and chose my grey bag. I used the grey in the scarf to decide what bag to wear.
This is one of the main ways that I use a scarf. Check out this post for 9 more!
Whenever I wear a neutral outfit, I like to add a pair of fun shoes. I chose my leopard print boots for this outfit, tying the brown to the warmer tones of the jacket trim and the mustard yellow in the scarf, and tying the black in the boots to the black and grey of the handbag.
